Bachelor of Accounting, graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), with an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Barna Business School, has a certification in Corporate Finance from the Institute of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico and a certification in Six Sigma – Green Belt obtained from 3M Company, Saint Paul, Minnesota, and a Masters degree in Master in Risk Management specializing in Business Continuity from EALDE Business School, Spain. In her professional career of more than 25 years, she has been Director of the Comptroller’s Office of Grupo PUNTACANA, Financial Manager of 3M Company for the Caribbean Region, Senior Auditor of KPMG, and Comptroller of the Dominican Institute of Agricultural Research. In this trajectory, Ms. Montás has participated in the region’s different markets and economic sectors, including industrial, airport, telecommunications, real estate, consumer, general services, hospitality, and agricultural research.
Within the aforementioned entities, she also led projects for the optimization of business and administrative processes, regionalization of finances, optimization of working capital using Six Sigma methodology, implementation of regulations, policies, and accounting and administrative processes, risk management and internal controls, land reorganization, equity reorganization, split-off, mergers and acquisitions and participation in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process of the first Dominican company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
During the last 5 years, the main projects on which she has worked are:
– Reorganization of the legal and operational structure of the companies of Services, Hospitality, and Real Estate divisions of a Dominican Corporate group in order to obtain operational and administrative efficiency for more than US$100M.
– Reorganization of the shareholding structure of an economic group, with transactions over US$120M with high tax efficiency.
– Definition and implementation of strategies, accounting, and tax policies in the real estate business, including two low-cost trust projects, with investments of over US$200M.
– Design and implementation of accounting policies in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulations in order to ensure compliance, allowing the timely issuance of audited individual and consolidated statements, with unqualified opinions by PWC for 17 companies.
Participation in projects with foreign organizations:
– Preparation and presentation before North American Authorities of financial and fiscal aspects of the customs pre-authorization project (preclearance).
– Preparation and presentation of the most favorable financial and shareholding structure in airport expansion projects in the Caribbean and Latin America.
In her academic work, she has given more than 20 training and updating workshops on IFRS to professionals from different areas within the Business Administration program of Barna Business School and Grupo PUNTACANA. In addition, she has been an invited speaker for 5 consecutive years by the Airport Council Association – Latin America & Caribbean on the Impact of the Global Economy on the Airport Business.
